Fordie Hays grew up in Mississippi where his country roots run deep and strong in music and family. Even his name, Fordie, comes from generations of his father’s family, including his grandfather. Fordie also shares the name with his own youngest son.
His love of pure country music has earned Fordie the reputation of being “the real deal” as a Country Recording Artist. His unique voice is showcased alongside his huge personality. He has fun when he’s performing and involves his listeners so they have just as much, if not more, fun. Whether he’s sitting on the tailgate of his truck under the stars or on a stage (big or small) he gives his all to his music and fans. When a man loves what he’s doing he never slacks up, not even for a moment.
Fordie says when he was born in April, 1988 music was already running through his veins. On his mother’s side of the family, Fordie comes from a long line of singers, song writers and guitar pickers. Fordie’s grandfather had nine brothers and they all had the gift of music in them. It is the generations of country music they shared which led Fordie to fall in love with country songs that make you feel alive.
Fordie’s first time attending a concert was at the age of five when he won tickets to a Travis Tritt concert. That concert awoken his dream of one day sharing his music with fans of his own; from that night on he knew music was his destiny. He continued to attend concerts all throughout his life; he has, most likely, seen more than 100 performers live.
As soon as he made up his mind to be a Country Music Artist at age five Fordie started singing at the local VFW and any other place where kids were welcome to step up to the microphone. His fan base began developing before he entered Jr. High School and continues to grow every day.
While taking on odd jobs to make ends meet he has also worked hard at turning his musical talents into a successful singer-songwriting career. He has the privilege of working alongside some of the best songwriters, producers, musicians and management in the country music industry. He has said his admiration comes from their ability to make legends out of ordinary people but most importantly their love of music is like his, vast and steady.
Fordie’s first break came when he met award winning songwriter Tommy Barnes. Tommy’s credits include three chart toppers for Tim McGraw. Fordie’s admiration of Tommy only grew when he penned Fordie's first single “Life in the Slow Lane”. With Fordie singing the words Tommy wrote from his heart the song climbed the charts on IHEART Radio giving Fordie recognition for his musical talents.
Fordie now divides his time between Nashville, TN and Mendenhall, MS. He savors the moments he has with his family, especially his wife, Tabitha and his sons, Talan and Little Fordie. When home you can find him singing on the front porch most nights. Again, when a man loves music the way Fordie does, he never stops, not even for a moment.
Fordie’s career is dedicated to the memories of his family who taught him to love honest country songs and to chase both fireflies and dreams. There can be no better family tradition or honor for him than to share his brand of passion for music. He's chasing the musical dream of his family before him and hopes to pave the way for family who follow in his footsteps. He already sees the passion in both of his sons for music.
